Hill on the Wall

Hill on the Wall Country House Bed and Breakfast is situated close to the village of Gilsland. A grade II listed building dating back to the late 16th century, offering commanding views over the surrounding landscape and across Hadrian’s Wall, the location is perfect for walkers on the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and cyclists on the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway.

All 3 guest rooms are spacious and provide panoramic views across the gardens and countryside. Each have Wifi, TV, hairdryer and well-stocked beverage tray including a cafetiere of fresh coffee. Caligula’s Chamber has a king size double bed and en suite double shower. Hadrian’s Retreat is a twin room with a private bathroom and Flavian’s Folly has twin beds and en suite facilities.

Guests can relax in the private lounge with its cosy wood burning stove or have a stroll in the beautiful garden. There is bike storage available and car parking on-site. An inclusive hearty breakfast is served in the morning and there is a pub and tea rooms a short walk away in the village. The Eden Valley is also just a few minutes’ drive with superb fishing and peaceful river walks. To the west are Brampton and the historic city of Carlisle.
