Ellangowan Hotel

Ellangowan Hotel, a beautiful historic granite building, was constructed in 1898. The name Ellangowan comes from the pen of Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotlands greatest novelists. Ideally located to explore the beauty of Creetown in Dumfries and Galloway on the Solway Coast, the interior of the Ellangowan Hotel was used in the filming of the cult movie The Wicker Man and the hotel is central to various locations used in the film. We cater for short breaks or longer stays, bed and breakfast or with dinner included.

Ellangowan has 8 guest bedrooms with en-suite facilities, TV, radio and a beverage tray, and well-behaved children and dogs are most welcome! There are 4 double, 3 twin, 1 family and 1 single room. This area of Scotland offers a perfect retreat. Creetown is a small town of about 750 people on the north side of the Solway Firth. It was once a fishing village and is now known for its Country Music Festival. This region offers wonderful bird watching, walking, golfing and other outdoors activities. Creetown lies at the foot of Cairnsmore of Fleet and is only a short distance from the Galloway Forest Park.
