Cerne Abbas is located between Dorchester and Sherborne in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was the site of an important Benedictine abbey and that heritage can be seen to this day. A thriving village, identified as Abbots-Cernel by Thomas Hardy, with a range of small shops to help you to enjoy your visit. It is popular with visitors who appreciate the stone houses lining the streets and delightful walks by the river. The village is known for the Cerne Abbas Giant, a 55-metre high naked figure carved into the chalk hillside, owned by the National Trust and only a short 5-minute walk from the tearoom.
