Ullswater is the second largest lake in the English Lake District, and many regard it as the most beautiful of the English lakes and as such it is a popular tourist destination. The surrounding mountains give Ullswater its shape, it has three distinct bends giving it a dog’s leg appearance. The village of Pooley Bridge is at the northern end, Glenridding at the southern end and Howtown about halfway down. Perfect for lake shore walks and picnics, the surrounding area has some of the best walking country in the Lake District.
