Town Information

Drumnadrochit is a pretty village in the Highlands on the shores of Loch Ness and at the foot of Glen Urquhart. It is a great location for exploring the Highlands.  The area is rich in things to see and do with activities ranging from exploring the ancient ruins of Urquhart Castle, horse riding, cycling, cruising the length of Loch Ness and fishing trips. At the heart of Drumnadrochit is a village green where you can find a stunning model of Urquhart Castle formed by miniature hedges and plants. A stroll through the village will take you past traditional Highland white cottages, cafes, and gift shops. There are also other shops to explore, a whisky bar and a tourist information centre in the village. It is a popular place to stay for Loch Ness monster hunters! Nessieland is in the village, where you can find out more about the monster. A short distance further from the centre of the village is the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. Drumnadrochit is in the heart of the Great Glen. You can explore the glen which stretches 79 miles between Fort William and Inverness. It is a rewarding walk or cycle, mainly following towpaths and woodland tracks. You can also travel the glen by boat, canoe or kayak. Craigmonie lies just to the west of the village with trails leading you amongst a whole variety of trees, plants and wildlife.
