Newtonmore is a beautiful village in the Highlands, at the southern end of the Spey Valley in the Cairngorms National Park, at the exact geographical centre of Scotland. Its railway station is on the Highland Main Line. The village is an excellent walking centre and local opportunities include the 10 km Wildcat Trail. The village is also home to The Wildcat Experience visitor attraction. There are lots of mountain bike trails in local forests and tracks on the surrounding hills. There is also fishing, hunting and shooting in the area. Newtonmore has a golf course on the banks of the Spey and a bowling club which is open to visitors. The village is also home to the Highland Folk Museum, showing traditional Highland life from the 1700s to the 1960s, and the Clan MacPherson Museum. Newtonmore has a range of independent shops, cafes, a post office and small supermarket. It is home to Meikles of Scotland who produce Stags Breath Whisky Liqueur and a Traditional Harris Tweed Shop.
