Hotels, B&B's and Self Catering in Shaldon

Shaldon is a traditional fishing village in South Devon on the south bank of the River Teign, opposite Teignmouth. The village is characterised by narrow twisting streets, rows of thatched cottages and listed Georgian architecture. It offers a variety of shops, caf├ęs, pubs and eateries and boasts a sheltered beach with sailing, fishing, canoeing, rowing and rock pooling opportunities. Guarding this community from the sea is the Ness, Shaldon's towering headland and cliff face, through which runs a smugglers' tunnel to a secluded beach. A stroll along the South West Coast path to Labrador Bay is well worth the walk. For a family day out, visit Shaldon Zoo set in an acre of woodland gardens. Shaldon Regatta in August provides over 120 events, including beach sports and of course, rowing and sailing! The distinctive black and white boat shuttling people across to Teignmouth on the other side of the estuary is Britain's oldest passenger ferry.
