Newport is a bustling town on the north coast of Pembrokeshire. It is a popular destination for visitors and travellers. Situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, it is easily accessed from the M4 and via buses from train stations at Fishguard, Haverfordwest, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. There are pubs and restaurants, shops and galleries, and a high street off to one side. In the northern part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the coastal path runs through Newport’s boundaries with stunning views of Dinas Island, Morfa Head, Carningli and Newport Bay. Beaches at Newport include Traeth Mawr (Big Beach / Newport sands) and the Parrog. Two smaller beaches, Bettws and The Cwm are also close by. Traeth Mawr is a mile long and during the summer it is manned by lifeguards and has a designated safe swimming area. The Parrog beach is found on the south side of the estuary and is popular with sailing enthusiasts. Mynydd Carningli stands to the south of Newport and has some great walks taking you past standing stones, ancient forts and hut circles.
