Located in the beautiful Lower Wensleydale on the River Ure, Masham (pronounced 'Massam') is famous for its family-run breweries, steam engines and annual sheep fair. With a unique selection of high quality shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants, there is plenty here for everyone.  The market place is by far the largest in the district, and is home to one of the oldest markets in the UK. Wednesday and Saturday are market days; popular with locals and visitors alike. Masham is home to two working breweries, the Black Sheep Brewery and Theakston’s brewery, so why not come and sample some fabulous real Yorkshire ale? July sees the annual Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally, as well as the best of local produce, there are a range of steam and traction engines in steam and operating. At the end of September, the town commemorates its woolly history with the lively annual Masham Sheep Fair.
