The market town of Bedale is only 3 miles away. The town has many local shops, pubs and eating places along its market place where there is a market every Tuesday on the cobbles. Bedale is also home to a small museum, leisure centre and Big Sheep Little Cow Farm is a petting zoo next to the railway line. Bedale Golf Club is on the northern edge of the town.
