The Rising Sun overlooks the harbour in the North Devon fishing village of Lynmouth. This 14th century-era hotel with a thatched roof has many interesting quirks and is ideally situated right on the mouth of the River Lyn. Our guests enjoy welcoming hospitality, excellent rooms and fine food, all just a stone’s throw from the coast path, famous cliff railway and wonders of Exmoor National Park.

The hotel has Standard Rooms, Sea View Rooms and Shelley’s Cottage, where poet Percy Bysshe Shelley reputedly honeymooned with his bride; with its own sitting room, stunning views and garden. All rooms are furnished in a contemporary style, each with en suite facilities, toiletries, TV, Wifi, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray for making in-room hot drinks. A complimentary breakfast is served in the morning.

The restaurant serves a seasonal menu showcasing Devon’s finest produce, with something for everyone, from fish lovers to vegetarians, with an ever-changing selection of specials to reflect the best of the coast and countryside, complimented with a great wine list, real ales and ciders. Weddings and private parties can be accommodated and we can provide mobile bar hire for special events.
