Hadrian's Wall Camping & Caravan Site

Hadrian’s Wall Camping and Caravan Site is a friendly and peaceful location for backpackers, tourers and glampers, located in Melkridge, near Haltwhistle. Close to the famous Roman wall and the popular Pennine Way walking route, the site is also surrounded by beautiful rugged landscapes within an area boasting Dark Sky Status for night-time stargazing. Northumberland National Park and the North Pennies AONB are within easy reach.

The site is divided into different sections including a hardstanding area for touring caravans and motorhomes, grass pitches around the duckpond or in the main meadows (most with electric hook-up), and a backpacker’s area for camping, featuring a small cooking hut and overnight bicycle storage. There are also 2 bell tents and 4 shepherd’s huts for glamping. In addition, The Bunk Barn has a room with 4 bunks and a dormitory for 6 people.

The site has a central amenities block with hot showers, toilets, a plug for hairdryers, communal fridge / freezer, washing-up sinks, a laundry / drying room, and the on-site shop sells everyday essentials. Cooked breakfasts are available at the little café during peak season. There is a local bus service which stops at the end of the road, 5 minutes’ away, travelling to the nearest town of Haltwhistle.
