The New Inn Dorchester

The New Inn, West Knighton is an English Heritage listed building offering real ales, good food and excellent accommodation in the heart of the Dorset countryside. The pub has been upgraded and modernised by the new owners and provides a wonderful base for exploring the county. There is ample free car parking for guests. West Knighton is found 3 miles south-east of the county town of Dorchester. This historic county town was the Durnovara of the Romans and the fictional Casterbridge of the Thomas Hardy novel. The town has a busy shopping centre, a flourishing market and has many lovely Georgian buildings. Have a walk round Poundbury, an extension to Dorchester, built on the principles of architecture and urban planning as advocated by The Prince of Wales in A Vision of Britain. Visit Maiden Castle, the huge Iron Age hill fort just outside the town, and take a drive to the stunning Jurassic Coast or the fun resort of Weymouth for a day at the seaside.
