Welcome to the Gateway Cabin, a charming self-catering hideaway set within 6 acres of working croft land on the island of Burray, Orkney. With breath taking views across Scapa Flow, the Churchill Barriers, and Copinsay, this cosy retreat is perfect for families, couples, and small groups looking to slow down and experience the beauty and tranquillity of island life.

Experience Life on a Working Croft! Depending on the season, you may spot new born lambs, baby chicks, ducklings, goats, miniature Shetland ponies, and even foals! Guests are welcome to help feed the animals as part of the croft’s seasonal rhythm (hand washing required – gel provided).

Inside the Gateway Cabin:

1 double bedroom

1 twin bedroom (small singles that convert to a small double) + pull-down bunk

Spacious living room

Bathroom with shower, sink & WC

Free WiFi

Pet-Friendly Stay! Well-behaved pets are welcome (small fee of £15 per pet). Each furry guest receives their own welcome pack, with dog waste bins provided. To keep the cabin comfortable for everyone, pets are kindly asked to stay off the furniture.

Convenient & Scenic Location:

Connected to mainland Orkney via the spectacular Churchill Barriers. Easy access to historic sites, coastal walks & wildlife spotting. Excellent hourly bus service to Kirkwall & Stromness 20 mins from Kirkwall Airport. 10 mins to St Margaret’s Hope ferry to mainland Scotland.

Bookings:

Stays run Friday to Friday, though shorter breaks may be available – just ask!
