Cartwheel Bothy is a cosy holiday home on the small, unspoilt Outer Hebridean Isle of Scalpay which is connected to Harris via a bridge. A former minister’s office and fire brigade HQ, the property has been lovingly refurbished into a self-catering home by owners Lorna and Jezz. Scalpay is a popular location for walking, fishing and diving.

Off the beaten track and all on ground floor level, Cartwheel Bothy has an open plan living room with a wood burning-effect electric fire, sofa, armchair, dining table, French doors offering sea views and a kitchenette area. The bedroom has a king size bed with room for a travel cot, and there is a shower room. Dogs are welcome.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden area at the back, seating at the front where you can enjoy views across the bay, and plenty of off-road car parking, including space for a boat trailer. An ideal location for wildlife-spotting, with seal colonies and many varieties of birds, the bothy is a short walk away from the landmark local lighthouse.
