Gardiesfauld Youth Hostel

Situated on the unspoilt Island of Unst, the most northerly of the Shetland Isles, Gardiesfauld Youth Hostel is located along the shores at Uyeasound, with views across the sea to Uyea Island. As well as the Visit Scotland 3-Star rated hostel, there is a caravan and camping area. This refurbished hostel combines excellent facilities with a relaxed atmosphere.

The hostel has 35 beds altogether, in dormitories for 11, 6 (one with disabled en suite), or 5 plus a twin room. There are single-sex and mixed dormitories provided. Some of the rooms have en suite facilities, and there are 3 coin-operated showers and 3 toilets. There is free Wifi, shared kitchen facilities (suitable for disabled guests), a dining room, lounge and conservatory. A coin-operated laundry room is also available.

There are also 5 caravan bays with power and water connections and visitors can also pitch up their tent. A coffee shop is found a short walk away and there are bus stops outside the youth hostel to Baltasound and Belmont where you can catch the ferry to the other islands. Unst has spectacular cliffs sculpted by the Atlantic Ocean in the west, and secluded sandy beaches in the east providing an explorer’s paradise!
