For a wonderful camping and glamping retreat in the South Downs National Park, come to Night Pastures at Lower Lodge Farm, near the West Sussex village of Fernhurst. Nestled in a 24-hectare secluded setting and surrounded by 60 acres of open meadows and woodlands, it is the ideal place to relax and reconnect with nature.

There are 3 areas for campers; one is for families, one is for adults only and there is also an area exclusively for groups. Each is car-free, with their own composting loos, showers, fresh water, camping kitchen and covered dining area. Guests can also use the communal fire pit. A restricted number of dogs are allowed in the camping area.

For glampers, there are yurts sleeping 4 and 6 guests, bell tents for 4 and a converted vintage caravan for 2 people. All except Nightingale have a camping kitchen and private bathroom hut with flushing toilet and shower. Events, occasions and workshops can be accommodated on-site and there are 3 pubs within walking distance.

The site is popular with cyclists and bikepackers hiking the King Alfreds’ Way, so there is secure bike storage for 8 bikes, a trail pump, camp kitchen and hot showers. Subject to availability, Redwood Yurt can be used as a bunkhouse for organised cycling groups, with up to 8 comfy beds, fresh linen, a dining table, chairs and woodburning stove.
