Templand Cottages are situated near the River Nith, with spectacular views down the Nith Valley and only half a mile from the village of Thornhill, with its shops, hotels and restaurants. These self-catering cottages have been converted from the original 18th century sandstone farm buildings of Templand where the great Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle married Jane Welsh in 1826. Carlyle described the view from the gardens as The finest in Scotland.

The individually-named cottages are situated around a courtyard, with surrounding gardens and an adjacent wood. Templand sleeps 5-6 (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms); Jane Welsh sleeps 4 plus 1 (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms), Thomas Carlyle sleeps 4 plus 1 (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms), Drumlanrig sleeps 4 (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms); Morton sleeps 4 (1 bedroom, 1 bathroom) and Dalgarnock sleeps 4 and has wheelchair access.

You can enjoy our heated indoor pool and sauna or choose to relax on your cottage patio (with BBQ) and observe the wildlife. We offer a games room with pool table and outdoor table tennis and a play area for children. Pets are welcome. Located in beautiful unspoilt countryside, it is an ideal place to walk, cycle, and golf with superb salmon and trout fishing found nearby.
