Flamborough Head is one of the most spectacular areas of chalk cliffs in Britain, standing 400 feet high. The cliffs are home to one of the largest sites of nesting sea birds in England, boasting a rare colony of gannets. Visitors to the headland include oyster catchers, gulls, eider ducks, and cormorants. There is also a wide variety of plant and wildlife species. As well as the imposing white cliffs, there are coves, sea caves and stacks along the coastline. Flamborough lighthouse was first established in 1669, but was never kindled. The present lighthouse was built in 1806. RSPB Bempton Cliffs is just under 3 miles away, and we have binoculars available that you can borrow.
