Lorien House

Lorien House is perfectly situated in Fort Augustus, at the south end of Loch Ness, along the 73-mile-long Great Glen Way which runs from Fort William to the 'capital of the Highlands' Inverness, making Lorien House the ideal base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands! We have ample parking, including for motorcycles, plus lockable storage for bikes and equipment. There are 3 double bedrooms with en-suite facilities (showers) and views towards the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness and 1 twin bedroom with a private shower room, with views toward the hills. All rooms have a Freeview TV, beverage tray, hairdryers, boot trays and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast is served in a modern breakfast room and includes a Continental, Full Scottish, Half Scottish and smoked salmon and scrambled egg option. We can also offer various other alternatives.

Lorien House is only a 5-minute walk to the shores of Loch Ness where, if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, Nessie! From here you can also take a cruise of the loch, for a more relaxed outing, the Spirit of Loch Ness is perfect with hi-tech sonar systems to see what really lies beneath the water, along with a well-stocked bar. For the more adventurous, there's the RIB tours. Running right through the centre of the village is the Caledonian Canal, it has five locks and boats take around one hour to pass through. To find out more about the canal, you can pop in to the Caledonian Canal Visitor Centre. A short drive up the A82 towards Inverness will bring you to one of Scotland's most famous castles. With a very bloody history and a commanding position on the Loch, a visit to Urquhart Castle is a must when you're in the area.

There are canal, river and forest walks around Fort Augustus and, sitting as we do right on the Great Glen Way, Lorien House is ideally located for walking, cycling and kayaking. For those looking for something a bit more challenging, we are only an hour's drive from Ben Nevis and 50% of Scotland's Munros. With so much to see and do in the area there really is something for everyone here and you will be spoilt for choice, combined with a warm welcome, wonderful hospitality and comfortable accommodation you are assured a great stay in the Highlands.
