The Middle House

The Middle House is a welcoming pub, restaurant and hotel located in the charming village of Askrigg, in Wensleydale, within the world-famous Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village is an ideal base from which to explore the local and surrounding area, and is famous for being a filming location for the original BBC series of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Our guests will find friendly and attentive staff, an excellent range of drinks including local cask ales from Leyburn, great food made from the best local ingredients, accommodation including 12 comfortable en suite bedrooms (including some dog-friendly), a suntrap garden and car park.

Standard Double or Twin and Superior King or Twin Rooms are available for B & B. All rooms include complimentary toiletries, TV, free Wifi and tea / coffee-making facilities. In the morning, B & B guests choose from menu options including ‘The Yorkshire Breakfast’ or ‘The Yorkshire Veggie’, with lighter choices such as a bacon or sausage sandwich and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The kitchen is also open for lunch and dinner, with a range of tasty starters, mains, sides and desserts. Dishes use ingredients from local suppliers, including meat from Hammond's of Bainbridge and vegetables and eggs from Carrick's of Bedale.

Visitors can explore the Dales from the doorstep of The Middle House. Askrigg itself offers local shops and attractions including an old market cross and the impressive Parish Church of St Oswald. There are also many local footpaths suitable for either short or longer hikes. The market town of Hawes, about 5.5 miles away, is famously known for Wensleydale cheese! The Wensleydale Creamery has tours, a visitors centre, shop and restaurant. Leyburn, another market town c. 12 miles away, also has shops and attractions, with the medieval Bolton Castle and Aysgarth Falls both well worth a trip. Please visit the website for more information.
