The Island Bear

The Island Bear is a quirky modern bed and breakfast in the heart of Bowmore on the Isle of Islay. Opened in 2013 and recently taken over by enthusiastic new owners Fiona and Duncan, you will have a relaxing stay.

We have 3 rooms (2 doubles and a twin), all offering comfortable furnishings with traditional Scottish fabrics. Each offers en suite bathrooms, Sky TV, Wifi and hospitality tray. You can also unwind in our spacious guest lounge. An excellent Scottish breakfast is included.

Bowmore is most famous for its whisky distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal in the heart of the town. Bowmore Distillery was built in 1779 and is the second oldest distillery in Scotland and the oldest distillery on Islay. Another popular attraction in Bowmore is the round church. Swimming pool adjacent to the distillery with sauna and small gym. A variety of shops are found on the main street which runs from the round church to the harbour. Other amenities include a supermarket, post office, bank and restaurants.
