The Old Station

All aboard at the Old Station in Allerston! For a holiday with a difference, then come to The Old Station at Allerston, comprising 3 beautifully-converted railway carriages and the former ticket office and associated staff accommodation offering self-catering holiday homes. Located in the grounds of the former train station set within 2 acres of beautiful grounds, they are ideal for a wonderful holiday experience in North Yorkshire.

The carriages were built in the 1960s as British Rail Mk2 First Class carriages. All are equipped with central heating, an air extraction system and Wifi. Each has a sitting area with a TV, DVD player and the old carriage seating; plus a dining area with well-equipped kitchenette and a bathroom. Two of the carriages can sleep up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms and the other can sleep 6 in 2 triple bedrooms.

Laundry equipment is provided in the shared Staff Tool Van and there is a picnic table, barbeque and car parking for each. The market town of Pickering is only 6 miles away where guests can find plenty of shops and places to eat, plus hop on the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway. The proprietors are on hand in the Station House, for advice and information if required. Short breaks are available from November until just before Easter.

The former ticket office and associated staff accommodation have been carefully renovated and converted into a spacious, two super king size, (or twin), bedroomed self catering cottage, (for adults only). The kitchen has all the facilities that you might expect, including a freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. The lounge and dining area includes several restored period features plus a wood burning stove in the original ticket office fireplace. There is underfloor heating throughout. The beds in both bedrooms can be set up as a super king size or two twins. Each bedroom has its own wc and a large walk-in shower.
