The Mouse House

The Mouse House is a detached stone barn providing self-catering accommodation for 2 guests in a beautiful 1-bedroomed cottage. Visit England 4-Star Gold Award rated, this dog-friendly cosy countryside bolthole with scenic views is found in the Newlands Valley near Keswick in the Lake District, and can be booked alongside its sister property Rowling End House to provide accommodation for up to 10 people.

The cottage provides luxurious open plan living with a kitchen, dining and sitting area on the ground floor. Visitors will find all the mod cons including an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. On the first floor, the bedroom contains a super king size bed which can also be configured as a twin; with en suite walk-in shower facilities. High quality White Company linen is included.

This delightful property has oak flooring, central heating, a TV, DVD player, Wifi access, good mobile reception for most networks, a welcome pack and private car parking bay. A travel cot and stairgate are available on request for families. Outside catering can also be arranged for your stay. Guests will enjoy wildlife watching from the cottage, with red squirrels and a variety of native birdlife visiting the woodland nearby.

There are walks into the fells from the front door, with some of Wainwrights favourite walks including Catbells, the Newlands Round and the Coledale Round. Derwentwater is 15 minutes’ walk, a pub is found within 1 mile and the village shop in Braithwaite is 3 miles away. Attractions in and around Keswick include the Derwent Pencil Museum, Theatre by the Lake, Puzzling Place and Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum.
