The Brown Horse Inn

The Brown Horse Inn is a mid-19th century former coaching inn with open fires and oak beams, nestled in the scenic Winster Valley. Just 3 miles south of Bowness-on-Windermere and 2 miles from the lake, travellers will find a friendly bar serving real ales, comfortable guest accommodation and delicious food. The Inn has free parking and walkers and cyclists are welcome.

Rooms are decorated to a high standard offering a mix of classic and contemporary furnishings. There are 7 doubles, a twin room and a family room with a double and single bed. Additional folding beds can be provided if required. All rooms have oak beds, en suite shower facilities, a TV, Wifi and beverage tray. Some of the bedrooms offer stunning views across the valley and open out onto the terrace.

In the morning, there is a delicious breakfast buffet followed by a number of cooked options including a Brown Horse Full English, vegetarian breakfast, bacon or sausage sandwich, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and more. Food is available throughout the day at the Inn and our menus are available to view online. We also offer an extensive collection of wines, hand-pulled, home brewed and traditional ales and a vast gin menu.
