The Elk's Head

The Elk’s Head is a welcoming inn with guest rooms situated on the edge of Whitfield village in the scenic North Pennines, just 12 miles from Hexham and nestled on the banks of the River Allen. We are surrounded by beautiful undulating hills and countryside, providing a restful and relaxing haven for travellers in the area.

The Restaurant is open for lunches, afternoon tea and evening meals, with a variety of tasty classic dishes, with options for vegetarians and children. All food is made from fresh seasonal ingredients and there is something to please all tastes. Packed lunches can be provided with prior arrangement and we also have a function room for private events.

All 10 of the guest bedrooms are beautifully decorated, with some offering river views. There are single, double, twin, dog-friendly rooms and a single room with improved access for wheelchair users. Each has access to a private bathroom or en suite facilities, a TV and beverage tray, with a complimentary breakfast served in the morning. Guests can also relax in the bar or sit out in the garden area of the inn.
