Thornfield Camping Cabins

Thornfield Camping Cabins are in a picturesque rural setting surrounded by woodland, 2 miles south of the village of Dalston in Cumbria, close to the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. Hosts Karen, Andrew and the team provide a warm welcome to this Visit England Gold awarded site. Solo travellers, couples, families and well-behaved pets are accommodated. Hot tub hire is available for all pods for guests staying a minimum of 2 nights.

The luxury en-suite glamping pods are all sympathetic to the local environment and most provide beautiful countryside views. All are spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The larger pods of Fox, Badger, Pheasant and Owl are ideal for families, sleeping 4 guests. Fox and Badger are pet-friendly, whereas Pheasant and Owl are pet-free. Deer, Squirrel and Stable (latter is seasonal, with no open views) sleep 2 and are suitable for solo travellers or couples.

On-site facilities include Meg’s Room; providing tourist information leaflets, additional fridge and freezer space, a washing machine and tumble drying facilities, with a sink for washing off muddy boots. The site also has 2 Rolec electric vehicle charging points. Free Wifi is available, although service is limited due to the rural location. Indoor / outdoor games (seasonal) and activities are provided. Children can also be introduced to the animals.

Walks straight from the doorstep and local village are popular, and the site is well-located for accessing the northern fells and lakes, as well as Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall. The Reivers Route 10 and National Cycle Network Route 7 both run past the property. The nearest pub is only a mile away and can be accessed via local footpaths. There is also a regular bus service to Bridge End and Dalston village offers a host of amenities and a train station.
