Compston House

Compston House is a Victorian Lakeland stone house in the heart of the Lake District town of Ambleside. Formally a merchant house, today it is a bed and breakfast offering delightful rooms and a friendly stay for adults. We are on the doorstep of the independent shops, restaurant and cafes in the town, with delightful walks around the countryside and Lake Windermere close by.

We have 9 rooms, 7 of which are newley refurbished to offer comfort and elegance, with posturepedic king size and double beds, stylish en suites, Smart TV, a selection of hot drinks from a Tassimo machine, free Wifi and hairdryer. A delicious breakfast is served including homemade pancakes, creamy scrambled eggs and eggy bread! If you prefer a Full English breakfast, that is also available. Our ingredients are locally sourced.
