Ghyll Burn Cottage

For an enjoyable stay, Ghyll Burn and Barn End are situated in the Hartside Nursery Garden just over a mile from Alston. These are traditional Cumbrian cottages with rustic wooden beams and stone walls, nestled in a secluded valley in the Pennines and offering modern self-catering facilities. Owners Neil and Sue will ensure you receive a warm welcome.

Ghyll Burn Cottage is a 17th century cottage which can accommodate 4 to 6 guests, with a balcony offering stunning views. Our converted Barn End can accommodate 3 or 4 guests and has special adaptations for people with disabilities. Both are very comfortable, with a TV and stove in the lounge, as well as fully-equipped kitchens with washer dryers. There is central heating throughout.

Guests are very welcome to explore our nursery and many interesting species of plants. There are plenty of walks and wildlife-spotting locally, and in the nearby Kielder Forest Park or Lake District National Park. Alston has a heritage railway, museum and many restaurants, shops and cafes.
