Dersingham is a large village in Norfolk, 9 miles north of Kings Lynn, opening out onto the Wash. The village has many amenities, including shops and public houses. St Nicholas Church is one of the great churches of the 14th century. Of architectural note are the ancient 14th century walls, windows, stained glass, Gothic pointed arches and tower. During the summer months St Nicholas is open for visitors. Next to the church, the magnificent Tithe Barn was erected in 1671. Sandringham House, lies just to the south of Dersingham. Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty, The Queen, set in the woodland of the 600-acre country park, which is open to visitors. As well as being close to Sandringham, Dersingham is well located for visiting the coast. Dersingham Bog is a National Nature Reserve and one of the largest remaining areas of lowland heathland left in Britain. Birds such as the Redpoll, Crossbill, Long-eared Owl, Tree Pipit, Sparrowhawk and Nightjar can be found here.
