Wymondham is a beautiful and historic market town situated close to the city of Norwich. Full of pretty mid-17th century properties and narrow medieval streets, the skyline is dominated by the mighty towers of Wymondham Abbey on the edge of town. Originally built in 1107 as a Benedictine Priory, it also boasts a 15th century angel roof and a stunning altar piece which is a must-see. The town itself has a market cross dating back to the 17th century. There are plenty of pubs and tearooms in which to grab some refreshment, ranging from a traditional inn to a themed bistro in the award-winning Wymondham Railway Station. Other places of interest to visit are Wymondham Heritage Museum and Beckets Chapel (now Wymondham Arts Centre). Wymondham Annual Music Festival runs every summer from late June and offers plenty of live music with something for everyone!
