Connel is an attractive village in Argyll and Bute, about 5 miles from Oban. It is situated on the southern shore of Loch Etive. Oban Airport is nearby on the opposite side of Loch Etive. The Lusragan Burn flows through the village and into the loch. The most noticeable feature in the village is Connel Bridge, a large cantilever bridge that spans Loch Etive at the Falls of Lora where a rocky shelf causes spectacular rapids here during parts of the tidal cycle. The bridge was built in 1903 to take the railway line to Fort William. Today it supports the main A828 into Benderloch. A building of note is St. Oran's Church, built in 1888 and offering visitors an attractive interior and a collection of stained glass windows. There are also good views of Loch Etive from the grounds. There is a village shop, restaurants and a post office in Connel.
