Gravesend is an ancient market town on the south bank of the Thames Estuary in Kent. Its railway station has services to and from Stratford International in twelve minutes and Central London in twenty-four minutes. Eurostar trains from nearby Ebbsfleet International Station reach Paris and Brussels. Gravesend has plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Thames sailing barges, paddle steamers and yachts sail from the Town Pier Pontoon. Make time to visit the Gravesend Gurdwara, Cold War Bunker and Cobham Hall. Gravesend is also rich in Charles Dickens connections at Chalk, Shorne, Higham Marshes and Gad's Hill Place. Shorne Woods Country Park boasts orienteering and treasure hunt trails and Cyclopark is a popular multi-sports activity venue. For walkers, the Thames and Medway Canal towpath forms a section of walks linked to the Saxon Shore Way. It is also part of Route 1 of the National Cycle Network from Dover to John O’ Groats. Just a 15-minute drive from Gravesend, is Bluewater, Europe's largest shopping centre.
