Town Information

Bangor is a small but vibrant university city, offering views across the beautiful Menai Strait on the North Wales coast. It offers many attractions and amenities for the traveller, and is conveniently-placed for exploring the whole of the region. Bangor has lots of leisure facilities including a swimming pool, golf centre and driving range, play centre and a pier. It has terrific shops and what is presumed to be the longest high street in Wales which is boosted by the modern Deiniol and Menai centres!

Bangor Cathedral has roots leading back to the 6th century. The old Bishops Palace has been refurbished and is now the local museum and gallery where art and local artefacts are on display, along with an information hub for Ein Treftadaeth which translates to Our Heritage. The Pontio opened in 2015 is a venue for theatre productions, film, music, circus, dance and other performing arts and is a must-see. Check out Penrhyn Castle, the National Trust mansion that is set in the magnificent grounds on the outskirts of Bangor and Greenwood Forest Park, a popular and fun family attraction.
