Llandudno is a coastal town and the largest seaside resort in north Wales with two wonderful beaches; the award-winning North Shore and the quieter, sand-duned West Shore. It is known as Queen of the Welsh Resorts. The town has the 19th-century Llandudno Pier, the longest pier in Wales, which is a grade-II listed building, with shops and a games arcade. Running behind the promenade are the main shopping streets with high street stores, eateries, pubs, banks, two churches, amusement arcades and a public library. The last is the starting point for the Town Trail. The international art gallery, Mostyn, is also situated in the town. North-west of Llandudno, the cliffs of Great Orme headland jut into the sea. Ancient tunnels lead to a cavern at Great Orme Mines. To the east, the smaller headland of Little Orme is a nature reserve. Happy Valley on the eastern side of the Great Orme is home to wildlife animals and plants, family walks, a putting green, a ski slope and a cable car base station. The Marine Drive is a 4-mile scenic drive round the base of the Great Orme headland, from North Shore to West Shore. You will enjoy spectacular views at every turn.
