Mold is a traditional and proud market town in Flintshire, Wales. You can choose from lively Wednesday and Saturday street markets, a livestock market on Monday and Friday each week, monthly farmers market selling fresh local produce or the indoor market in the central shopping precinct. Alongside the markets, you will also find independent shops and national stores. There are plenty of good eateries and lots of friendly Welsh pubs. The medieval church of St Mary the Virgin is the centrepiece of the town in its fine sandstone building overlooking Mold High Street. Clwyd Theatr Cymru is Wales major drama producing operation with around 900 public performances per year. The floral entrance to Bailey Hill that overlooks the Alyn Valley, is a public park where you can enjoy the fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The existing town of Mold was established as a stronghold in Norman times and the remains of the Norman Motte and Bailey castle can still be seen at the top of the hill. The beautiful Clwyd Hills to the West of the town are popular with walkers, ramblers and mountain bikers alike, and are the location of the northern section of the Offas Dyke Path, the long-distance walk that leads from Prestatyn in the north to Chepstow in the south of Wales.
