A picturesque north Yorkshire village, Osmotherley is situated in the Hambleton hills. The village is on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park. Osmotherley is also on the route of the 110 mile Cleveland Way National Trail. With grass and tree lined streets, three pubs and inns in the village cater for refreshments and provide accommodation. The village also has a general store. Cod Beck Reservoir at Osmotherley gets its name from Cod Beck, a small tributary of the River Swale, and just before Cod Beck reaches the reservoir is a picturesque location called Sheepwash. The official starting point of Lyke Wake Walk is at the edge of the moors above the village, where there is a stone marker.
