Thornton-le-Dale (also called Thornton Dale) is a village located about three miles east of Pickering on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It is famous for its yearly shows and thatched cottages. The Square is in the centre of the village and on the village green, you will see the Market Cross and Stocks. Today The Green is a focal point of the village, hosting Sunday afternoon band concerts in the summer and the annual switch-on of the Christmas lights in December which is the culmination of a whole year's work of raising money and putting up the lights around the village. Thornton-le-Dale Museum is home to a collection of Classic & Vintage Cars.
