Aylsham is a pleasant market town beside the River Bure valley, between Norwich and the Norfolk coast. The market place, surrounded by 18th century houses, holds bi-weekly markets, a monthly farmers market and there are also plenty of shops, pubs and tea rooms to explore. The town is close to grand country houses at Felbrigg, Mannington and Wolterton. Nearby Blickling Hall is a magnificent Jacobean house with stunning gardens; former home to the Boleyn family. In the grounds, stands the 14th century church of St. Michael and All Angels. The Weavers Way trail, from Aylsham to North Walsham, follows a disused railway line and is a great route for walking, cycling and horse riding. Aylsham is the northern terminus of the Bure Valley narrow-gauge steam railway. The station also marks the start of the Bure Valley Walk, a walking and cycling route. If you visit during August, you can look forward to the annual Aylsham Country Show.
