The Borders market town of Peebles sits on the banks of the River Tweed. You can walk the John Buchan Way, a 22km linear route between Peebles and Broughton. Originally developed for walkers, the route is equally suitable for horse-riders. Walkers will also be enchanted by the walk along the banks of the River Tweed passing the dramatic Neidpath Castle. The River Tweed is an internationally famous salmon-fishing river and also noted for its sea trout and brown trout. On the outskirts of Peebles, the Glentress Mountain Biking Centre trails at Glentress Forest, one of Scotland's 7stanes, offer some of the best mountain biking in Scotland.
