Porthcurno is a lovely little village covering a small valley and beach on the south coast of Cornwall. It is famous because of its history as an international telecommunications centre. The first transatlantic telecommunications cables came ashore and more recently many sub-sea fibre optic cables have been brought into Porthcurno to connect to the rest of Britain. Visit the Telegraph Museum to find out more. Porthcurno is a wonderful family holiday destination with several beaches and is also home to the famous open air Minack Theatre in the dramatic clifftops. The great rock outcrop of Treen Castle can be seen on the eastern side of the bay with magnificent views, whilst a short walk east along the coast path lies the Logan Rock or 'Rocking Stone' part of the Iron Age Cilff Castle of Treryn Dinas. If you enjoy walking, Porthcurno is a paradise with plenty of spectacular local walks, and the coast path itself is just a minute's walk away.
