Hayle is a popular holiday resort in Cornwall situated on the edge of St Ives Bay, known for its three-mile-long fabulous golden sandy beach, which is bordered by sand dunes. Hayle town also has lots of facilities from restaurants to cafes and takeaways, individual shops, galleries, banks and a supermarket. The town’s harbour and townscape were granted World Heritage Site status in 2006, and Hayle was also the first town in Cornwall to be awarded ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ status which means the footpaths and trails around the town are well-maintained and well-marked. The area is well-known for its surfing and wind sailing, and for surf lessons around Hayle, head to Gwithian Academy of Surfing. Hayle’s wide estuary, managed by the RSPB, is an important stopping off point for migratory birds, so why not take a picnic, relax and enjoy some bird-watching in beautiful surroundings!
