Marazion is a lovely Cornish town situated on the shore of Mount's Bay, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Penzance. The ancient market town is a great place to visit with the safe, sandy beach and clear, turquoise waters of Mount's Bay guarded by St Michael's Mount castle. St Michael's Mount is half-a-mile offshore and at low water, a causeway links it to the town and at high water, passenger boats carry visitors. Marazion lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is a thriving resort with an active community of artists. With stunning views toward the Lizard Peninsula and Land's End, Marazion is a justifiably popular destination. The town claims to be the oldest town in Britain and was called Ictis by the Romans.
