Brixham is a small town and fishing port to the south of Torbay, Devon. The harbour has a large fishing fleet and a thriving fish market. There is a visitor viewing platform so you can watch the busy comings and goings of the harbour, or hop on one of the many pleasure boats.
Brixham is very pretty, with many brightly-painted cottages cascading down on either side of the steep-sided harbour. The town is packed with local amenities, shops and places to eat and drink.
It is a great place for the whole family with lots of excellent days out to places like Berry Head Country Park with its Napoleonic forts, spectacular views and wonderful bird watching with the largest colony of guillemots on the south coast. Have a refreshing swim in the large art Deco Shoalstone seawater pool or enjoy the clear views and sea air on the beaches. Many indulge in a spot of fishing or crabbing with plenty of shops along the seafront selling equipment and bait. Watersports are also popular in Brixham, and there are local wreck diving opportunities at Breakwater Beach.
There is a busy town schedule packed with festivals: Fishstock (a one-day, annual seafood and live music festival), Brixfest, the Pirate Festival (known for its world record attempts, live music, free entertainment and for filling Brixham with pirates over the May Day holiday), the Festival of the Sea and lots of free live music all year round. The Art and Craft Market is held every Saturday from Easter to the end of October.
