Cartmel is a village about 2 miles north-west of Grange-over-Sands, close to the Lake District National Park. This ancient village is famous for the imposing 12th Century Cartmel Priory, with its stained glass windows and choir stalls. Cartmel is a popular foodie destination with several fine inns and restaurants. The village has also become known as the home of Sticky Toffee Pudding! Cartmel Racecourse is a small national hunt racecourse hosting popular meetings during the year. Walkers will enjoy scaling Hampsfell with its panoramic views across Morecambe Bay and the Lake District mountains.
