Founded by the Romans as a thermal spa, the city of Bath is a World Heritage Site set in the rolling countryside of southwest England, known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Bath Abbey was founded in the 7th century and became a religious centre. The city boasts a remarkable variety and wealth of Roman, medieval and Georgian architecture.
