The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are situated on the northern edge of the beautiful Exmoor coast. Lynton is nestled 500 feet above Lynmouth and both villages are connected by the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, which is next to The Exmoor National Park Visitor Centre. Lynton is an unspoilt village with independent shops and an impressive town hall. Lynmouth is at sea level with a small harbour and Rhenish Tower dominating the harbour wall. Boat trips run from Lynmouth Quay. The High Street is pedestrian-only with some shops. Often known as Little Switzerland, the area is a walker’s paradise. Try the Watersmeet circuit or follow the path from Lynton to the Valley of Rocks, famous for its geology and fearless goats! The South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail pass through the area, and the Two Moors Way, Samaritans Way South West and the Coleridge Way also provide popular walks. To learn more about the area, visit the Lyn and Exmoor Museum.
