Hotels, Guest accommodation, Self Catering & Camping in Ross on Wye
Ross-on-Wye is a small market town in south-east Herefordshire located on the River Wye, and on the northern edge of the Forest of Dean. The town has a mock gothic style to its architecture and the Market House, built between 1650 and 1653, still holds markets twice a week. Agriculture still plays an important role in the town, and it is also a popular tourist destination. There are excellent shops, ranging from small craft shops to high street chains. Ross is well-known for its annual International Music Festival in August. The area surrounding the town has many prehistoric caves, Medieval castles, Roman forts and Neolithic settlements yielding many historical artefacts. Nearby is the world-famous beauty spot of Symonds Yat where the river has carved a dramatic gorge through limestone cliffs. The natural beauty of the Wye Valley has attracted writers, poets, artists and those seeking picturesque views. The remarkable ruins of Goodrich Castle dominate a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley.
