West Fossil Holiday Barns are located a mile west of Winfrith Newburgh down a private track, 250 yards from the Dorchester / Wareham road. The owners property is a short distance away, and there is plenty of car parking. Tarnell Heath, a Dorset Wildlife Trust Reserve, lies just to the north; to the south are fields with views of the Purbeck Hills. The Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty takes in the heritage coasts of Purbeck and West Dorset, and stretches inland to cover the broad chalk valleys and ridges of central Dorset. On the coast are Chesil Beach and the great arch of Durdle Door at Lulworth Cove. The South West Coast Path runs along the coast; the longest of England's National Trails.
